Il modello basato sulla proprietà privata risulta ormai superato: le regole della proprietà non possono più essere applicate ai nuovi contesti e rischi derivanti dalla sharing economy.
Si sta assistendo ad un repentino passaggio da una economia basata sul concetto di proprietà ad una basata sul concetto di accesso. Si tratta di un sistema dove i beni e i servizi non occorre possederli, li si usa solo quando se ne ha bisogno, pagando in proporzione.
La condivisione a differenza della proprietà produce contemporaneamente molteplici benefici che è impossibile ignorare: economici, ambientali, pratici (maggiore scelta e flessibilità), comunitari!
Secondo alcune stime provenienti da Bruxelles la sharing economy vale già 10 miliardi di euro all’anno solo in Europa, con tassi di crescita del 25% di anno in anno.
Cosa sta succedendo precisamente?
Grazie alle nuove tecnologie è possibile connettersi velocemente con molte più persone e il proliferare di piattaforme online permetterà di accoppiare domanda ed offerta in modo più efficiente ed economico.
Si stima che entro il 2020 circa il 90% della popolazione globale di età superiore a 6 anni avrà un mobile.
Nel turismo, la sharing economy tocca praticamente tutti gli aspetti: Airbnb, Homeaway, Uber, Bla Bla car, Car to go, Gnammo o Eatwith sono solo alcuni esempi di piattaforme che stanno trasformando le nostre abitudini di viaggio.

Our Booking and Availability Management Tools have reached beta release stage. This means that we have covered all the main features for the 1.0 version of the library and we will now focus on bug fixes and UI improvements as well as developing documentation and a more comprehensive test suite.
The BAT PHP library is now version while the Drupal module is at .
BAT is a comprehensive framework that delineates both a way to think about and build booking systems. To make this more usable, documentation and effective usage examples are required. We built the core BAT library using a test-driven development process, using PHPUnit essentially as the initial client. Therefore, the BAT PHP Library has excellent code coverage. For the Drupal module we are working on a Behat-based test suite.
We are building the next generation of Roomify's travel related products on top of BAT. Since BAT aims to be a generic framework, it does not provide solutions for application specific things, such as completing bookings through Drupal Commerce, or customized workflows for specific use cases such as vacation rentals, activities, tours, etc. These are all issues that will be dealt with at the application level.
We have made great progress on all these fronts and in the coming weeks we will be releasing new versions of our products, providing specific solutions for vacation rentals, hotels, tours, and activities.
Each product will be available in tiers based on how many items you need in your site, and in what combination you need them (e.g. vacation rentals and tours, hotels and activities, etc). Of course, with these being Roomify products, the option to customize these to the extent required by your specific use case is always there, and the Roomify team can work with you to create the exact solution you need. Our objective is to enable anyone to use Roomify travel solutions to create sites that combine vacation rentals, hotels, tours and activities in a single solution.

Last week we released BAT - our Bookings and Availability Management toolkit as well as a Drupal module for BAT.
We are using BAT to build the new version of our Rooms module as well as other products. However, BAT is much more than an engine for nightly bookings. It also allows us to build any sort of booking / resource management tool. So we asked: "What would it take to build a resource management tool to manage ourselves?". We have previously used a tool called , and while it is a wonderful tool, we wanted to build something that integrated tightly with our project planning and issue tracking tool, Jira.
The result actually impressed us. We thought it would be a useful exercise, but we didn't anticipate getting a tool that we could use daily this early in the game. Read on for some of the details of what we did.
